PROSTHODONTICS & CROWN AND BRIDGE
Prosthodontics is the branch that deals with the replacement of lost or missing natural teeth. This subject is taught to the students from I to V year BDS.
In the Ist year students get an in-depth insight in to dental materials – the science of application of various materials used in dentistry. Preclinical prosthodontics deals with the laboratory aspect of the various replacements and is taught in I year & II year.
Students are trained in clinical prosthodontics with hands on experience in complete dentures, partial dentures and fixed prosthodontics in the III, IV & V year. The department has an undergraduate clinic and a post graduate clinic with state-of-the- art equipment. There is also a full-fledged lab to cater to the laboratory work. The highlight is a well equipped ceramic lab with the most advanced equipment like induction casting machine and ceramic furnace are available. These equipments are necessary to carry out best of the restorative work.
Department also has a museum with specimens and models to help the students in their curriculum. There are also a number of charts, slides, CDs used as audio-visual teaching aids and a fully equipped seminar room.
The Department boasts of a good number of OPD with patients requiring complete dentures, partial dentures, fixed crown & bridge Prostheses and Maxillofacial Prostheses.
